Canvas is what is known as a “learning management system”. It’s an ugly term. Learning is not something that should be “managed”. But there are still some parts of a course that do need to be managed—like grades and questions about upcoming work. We’ll use Canvas for those administrative purposes.

Most of the actual, intellectual work of this course will instead take place on several other platforms: WordPress, Zoom, Medium, Google Drive, even ordinary email. We’ll also use Twitter as a back-up system for keeping in touch.

So you’ll need to make sure you have accounts up and running on each of those platforms. The pages below offer you some tips about creating them.
